Privacy Policy

At AylernAI (the "App", "we", "us" or "our"), we care about your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your personal data is collected, used, stored and shared when you use our mobile application and web platform. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Data Controller

Under applicable data-protection law (including the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 and the EU GDPR), the data controller is AylernAI. For any privacy-related request, please contact privacy@aylernai.sefayilmaz.dev.

2. Personal Data We Collect

We collect the following categories of data in order to provide the Service:

Identity and contact data

Name, email address, username, profile picture and optionally a date of birth you provide.

Account and authentication data

A cryptographically hashed password, session tokens, login timestamps and, if you use Sign in with Apple / Google, the unique identifier provided by that platform.

Learning and interaction data

Your selected languages, target level, progress records, exercise results, vocabulary, and the written transcripts of conversations with our AI tutors.

Voice recordings and transcripts

Audio recorded only when you initiate a pronunciation exercise or AI speaking practice, together with the transcripts derived from it.

Device and connection data

Device model, operating system version, app version, language preference, time zone, anonymized IP address and crash logs.

Payment and subscription data

Your subscription status, plan type and transaction date. We do not store credit-card numbers; payments are securely processed through Apple App Store and Google Play.

3. How We Use Your Data

We process your data only for the following purposes, in a proportionate and limited manner:

  • To create your account, authenticate you and provide access to the Service.
  • To deliver a personalized language-learning experience and adapt AI content to your level.
  • To process voice recordings for speech recognition and pronunciation feedback.
  • To manage subscriptions, verify purchases and keep billing records.
  • To keep the App safe and stable; to detect and prevent fraud or abuse.
  • To comply with legal obligations (tax, consumer-protection, lawful requests).
  • To send you marketing messages and product updates where you have given explicit consent.

4. AI Processing

AylernAI relies on large-language-model providers (such as Anthropic, OpenAI and similar) for conversation practice, writing correction and content generation. Your messages and voice transcripts are sent to these providers' APIs only for the purpose of generating a response to you. We have data-processing agreements in place that prohibit our providers from using your data to train their foundation models. AI responses are the output of a statistical model and may be incorrect, incomplete or misleading; they should not be relied on as the sole basis for important decisions.

5. Sharing with Third Parties

We do not sell, rent or share your personal data with third parties for advertising purposes. We share data only with the limited categories of recipients below, subject to appropriate contractual safeguards:

  • Infrastructure and hosting providers (e.g. Vercel, Supabase, Cloudflare).
  • Analytics and crash-reporting services (e.g. Sentry, for anonymized usage metrics).
  • AI model providers (API calls for conversation and content generation).
  • Payment platforms: Apple App Store, Google Play and Stripe (subscription billing and refunds).
  • Legal authorities: when required by law or in response to a valid court order.
  • Business transfers: in a merger, spin-off or acquisition, subject to continued compliance with this policy.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purpose for which it was collected. When you delete your account, your identity data will be anonymized or deleted within 30 days. Voice recordings are automatically deleted no later than 90 days after feedback is generated. Billing records may be kept for up to 10 years where required by tax or consumer law.

7. International Data Transfers

Our Service is cloud-based; your data may be processed in data centers located in the European Union, the United Kingdom and the United States. For cross-border transfers we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and adequacy decisions.

8. Your Rights

Under GDPR, the Turkish KVKK and other applicable laws, you have the following rights:

  • Access your personal data and request a copy.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Request restriction of or object to processing.
  • Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format (data portability).
  • Withdraw any consent you have given, at any time.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Turkish KVKK Authority or your local supervisory authority.

9. Children's Privacy

AylernAI is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. Users aged 13–17 need consent from a parent or legal guardian to use the Service. If you believe your child has provided us with personal data, please contact privacy@aylernai.sefayilmaz.dev and we will delete the data promptly.

10. Cookies and Similar Technologies

On our web platform we use cookies and local storage for session management, language preference and anonymous analytics. In the mobile app we use device-local storage for similar functions. See our Cookie Policy for details.

11. Security

We protect your data from unauthorized access, alteration and destruction using TLS 1.2+ in transit, server-side encryption, role-based access control, two-factor authentication for admin accounts and regular security reviews. No transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we commit to a reasonable level of protection but cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Sign in with Apple and Platform-Specific Notes

If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple provides you with a randomly generated identifier and, optionally, a private (relay) email address. Apple's privacy practices for that service are governed by Apple's own Privacy Policy. Apple is not our subcontractor and remains independently responsible for its own processing of your data.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced via email or in-app notification; the effective date is shown in the "Last updated" field. Continuing to use the Service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
